Seasonal
Seasonal covers how the men's wardrobe changes through the year, without buying a new one each time the weather turns. The five guides here are written as sequences: the order in which to swap fabrics, layers, colors and shoes as the season arrives, plus a short section on what to do when the result feels wrong.
"Spring, after the coat" is about retiring heavy wool gradually, relying on a light layer, planning for rain, lifting colors carefully and switching shoes. "Summer, without surrender" starts with cloth and a slightly relaxed fit. It covers linen shirts, summer business casual, shorts, wedding outfits, extreme heat and managing sweat. "Fall, in texture" brings back boots, flannel and suede, layers visibly, darkens the palette slowly and warns against overheating indoors. "Winter, with structure" builds from base layers through midweight warmth, heavier trousers, an outer layer and accessories, aiming for warmth without bulk.
"Transitional, in motion" deals with the weeks between seasons, including 50- and 60-degree days, rain and sudden swings. Its approach is to dress for the afternoon first, then add a middle layer, adaptable shoes and colors that bridge both seasons. Together the five guides form a year-round rotation built on the same core wardrobe described in the Build section.
Layering, knitwear, and the case for one good overcoat.
Seasonal sits under Men in the HowTo Fashion menu. It has 5 sections: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Transitional Dressing.
Spring, summer, fall, winter, and the awkward weeks between them. The weather changes. The standards do not.
Seasonal dressing is a rotation problem. The closet needs a light layer, a heat plan, a texture plan, a cold plan, and a bridge between all of them. This page keeps those decisions in one place.
Rotate by temperature first. One coat can change the whole season. Transitional weeks need a middle layer, not a new closet.
