Card Values
Card Values is about working out what a trading card is actually worth, and acting on that number when you buy or sell. The six guides, all by Ian, start from one principle: the only price with evidence behind it is a completed sale. Asking prices, hopeful listings and single headline sales are not evidence.
"How to Check What a Card Really Sells For" shows how to search sold listings rather than asking prices, and how to throw out sales of a different version or condition. "How to Read a Price Chart Without Fooling Yourself" explains the choices behind any price line and what each data point is really made of. "How to Tell What Moves a Card's Price" describes four forces and the shape each leaves on a chart: a spike, a step, a sliding plateau, or a slow drift.
The other three guides turn that into decisions. "How to Buy Low Without Guessing" builds a card's settled price band from completed sales and sets a buy price before you see the listing. "How to Time a Sale You Have Already Decided to Make" uses the release calendars that card games publish months ahead, without trying to forecast prices. "How to Sell a Card Without Losing to Fees" separates percentage fees from flat costs and explains why the flat costs often decide whether a sale is worth it.
Card Values sits under Trading Card Games in the HowTo Gaming menu. It has 3 sections: Checking Prices, Selling Cards and Market Basics.
