Step by step
Access Facebook Page creation
Log into your personal Facebook account and navigate to facebook.com/pages/create. Click the blue 'Create Page' button. Facebook requires a personal account to manage business pages, but your personal information remains separate from your business page.
Note: Use your main personal account as the primary admin — you can add other admins later without sharing your personal login.Choose your page type and enter basic information
Select 'Business or Brand' from the page type options. Enter your business name exactly as it appears on official documents. Choose a category that best describes your business — this affects which features and templates Facebook suggests.
Note: Pick the most specific category possible rather than generic ones like 'Company' — it improves discoverability in Facebook search.Upload profile and cover images
Upload a profile picture (recommended size: 170x170 pixels) — typically your logo or business symbol. Add a cover photo (recommended size: 820x312 pixels) that showcases your business, products, or services. Both images must meet Facebook's community standards and business policies.
Note: Profile pictures appear as 170x170 on desktop but display as circles in many contexts, so ensure your logo works in a circular crop.Complete your business information
Fill in your business description, website URL, phone number, and physical address if applicable. Add business hours and choose whether to display a 'Get Directions' button. Set your page's username (facebook.com/yourusername) — this becomes your page's permanent web address.
Note: Your username cannot be changed easily later, so choose carefully. Use your business name or a shortened version without special characters.Configure page settings and messaging
Click 'Settings' in the left sidebar, then 'General' to review privacy settings, page visibility, and visitor posts permissions. Navigate to 'Messaging' to enable automated responses and set response times. Configure notification preferences for page activity.
Note: Enable 'Show a Messenger greeting' to automatically welcome visitors who click your message button — it increases engagement rates significantly.Add additional page sections
Click 'Edit Page Info' to add sections like Services, Products, Mission, Awards, or Company Overview. Include relevant keywords in your descriptions to improve search visibility. Add action buttons like 'Contact Us,' 'Book Now,' or 'Shop Now' based on your business goals.
Note: The 'About' section supports up to 255 characters and appears in search results — write it like a compelling elevator pitch.Publish your first post and invite connections
Create your first post to introduce your business and explain what followers can expect from your page. Use Facebook's 'Invite Friends' feature to invite personal contacts to like your page. Share your page URL on other marketing channels to begin building your audience.
Note: Pin your introductory post to the top of your page so new visitors see it first — it stays there until you pin something else.
