Step by step
Check for mandatory software updates
Open the App Store and select Updates from the sidebar. Install all pending updates to ensure apps are optimized for your current version of macOS and your new architecture.
Note: If an app crashes immediately, it may require a Silicon-native version update.Validate core system permissions
Navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security. Review sections for Accessibility, Full Disk Access, and Screen Recording to ensure your applications retain the necessary permissions to function as expected.
Note: Removing and re-adding an app to these lists can resolve intermittent permission failures.Execute clean application launches
Launch each primary application individually. Observe the splash screen and initial UI load to identify missing library dependencies or registration errors.
Note: Hold the Shift key while launching apps to prevent them from reopening windows from the previous session if they hang on startup.Re-authenticate licensed software
Many professional applications use machine-specific keys or cloud-based licensing that will trigger a re-activation prompt on new hardware. Open the account or license settings within each app to confirm your status is active and verified.
Note: Check your vendor's portal if the app reports an 'Exceeded Device Limit' error.Confirm third-party helper integration
Test plugins, browser extensions, and background daemons. Open the application's Preferences or Settings menu to verify that file paths for external plugins remain correctly pointed to the new library folders.
