Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Create and configure a frame

Press F to activate the Frame tool. Select a preset device size from the Design panel on the right sidebar to ensure your canvas matches target screen dimensions.

Note: Use standard device presets like iPhone 15 or Desktop to keep designs responsive.
  2. 2 min

    Apply a layout grid system

Select your frame, then locate the Layout Grid section in the right sidebar. Click the plus icon to add a grid, change the type to Columns, and set the count to 12 for desktop or 4 for mobile to establish consistent spacing.

Note: Enable baseline grids if your design system requires strict vertical rhythm.
  3. 2 min

Utilize Auto Layout for dynamic elements

Select multiple UI elements and press Shift + A to wrap them in an Auto Layout container. Adjust the spacing between items and padding settings in the right panel to ensure the frame resizes intelligently as content changes.

Note: Auto Layout is essential for buttons that need to expand based on text length.
  4. 2 min

    Create reusable components

Group your design elements, right-click the group, and select Create Component. This defines the selection as a Master Component, allowing you to propagate updates to every instance across your project files.

Note: Keep your master components organized in a dedicated page or local library file.
  5. 1 min

    Define prototype interactions

Switch to the Prototype tab in the right sidebar. Click and drag the circular node from one frame to another to draw a connection line and define the transition behavior, such as Push or Dissolve.

Note: Press Shift + E to enter Presentation mode and test your interaction flow.
