  2. 30 sec

    Access Workout settings

Scroll down the My Watch tab and select Workout. This menu contains all global configuration options for your fitness tracking behavior.

  3. 30 sec

    Enable Auto-Pause

Tap the toggle for Running Auto-Pause to the ON position. This feature specifically triggers when the watch detects you have stopped moving during an Outdoor Run workout.

Note: Only supports Outdoor Run and Outdoor Cycle workouts.
  4. 30 sec

    Verify Cycling settings

Return to the main Workout menu and verify that your Cycling settings allow for auto-pause. This ensures your pace data remains accurate during stop-and-go urban riding.

Confirm the settings on your Apple Watch

Launch the Workout app on your watch and start an Outdoor Run. Test the functionality by stopping abruptly; the workout should display a paused status automatically within seconds.

Note: Resume by tapping the resume button or pressing the side button and Digital Crown simultaneously.
