Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Check current storage usage

On your paired iPhone, open the Watch app and navigate to the My Watch tab. Tap General, then tap Storage to view a breakdown of your device's capacity. Identify which applications are occupying the most space under the Documents & Data section.

Note: System Data represents logs, cache, and temporary files that cannot be individually selected.
  2. 2 min

    Delete unnecessary third-party applications

Return to the My Watch tab and scroll down to the Installed on Apple Watch section. Select an application consuming excessive storage and toggle off Show App on Apple Watch. This action removes the app and its associated local cache from the device immediately.

  3. 1 min

    Clear media library sync

Large music or podcast libraries significantly impact storage. Go to the Watch app, tap Music or Podcasts, and set the sync limit to None or a smaller selection. Syncing the watch to your phone will purge the discarded media files.

  4. 1 min

    Force restart the device

To clear temporary system logs and cached operational data, perform a hard reset. Press and hold both the Digital Crown and the side button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons once the device begins its reboot sequence.

Note: A force restart effectively clears volatile cache files stored in RAM and temporary system memory.
  5. 2 min

    Reset sync data

If System Data remains high, navigate to Watch app settings, tap General, then select Reset. Tap Reset Sync Data to erase the address book and calendar caches stored on the watch. These items will re-sync automatically from your iPhone upon the next connection.

Note: This process does not delete your actual contacts or calendar events; it only clears the local cache copy.
