Before applying a major system update, navigate to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup. Tap Back Up Now to ensure your current data is saved in case of an installation error.

Once the download completes, tap Install Now. Your iPhone will restart automatically; do not force a reboot or disconnect power while the Apple logo or progress bar is displayed.
Verify the successful update
After the iPhone restarts, return to Settings > General > Software Update. Confirm that the screen displays the message stating your software is up to date.
Begin the Apple Watch pairing
With your iPhone now on the latest firmware, open the Watch app on your phone. Bring your Apple Watch close to the iPhone to initiate the proximity pairing animation.
Note: If the animation does not appear, tap Start Pairing manually inside the app.
