Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Verify Bluetooth and proximity status

Ensure the wearable is within three feet of your smartphone. Open Settings on your phone, navigate to Bluetooth, and confirm the toggle is in the On position. If it is already on, toggle it off for 10 seconds before turning it back on to refresh the radio state.

Note: Avoid areas with high concentrations of wireless interference, such as near active microwave ovens or dense Wi-Fi mesh nodes.
  2. 2 min

    Clear stale pairing data

Navigate to your phone's Bluetooth settings and locate your wearable in the list of devices. Tap the 'i' icon or gear symbol next to the device name and select Forget This Device or Unpair. This removes cached authentication tokens that may be corrupted.

Note: Perform this step even if the device appears as Connected but shows no activity in your companion app.
  3. 3 min

    Perform a forced power cycle

Restart both the smartphone and the wearable device simultaneously. On most modern wearables, hold the physical crown or side button for 10 seconds until the manufacturer logo appears on the display. Do not initiate the pairing process until both devices have fully rebooted to the home screen.

Note: A soft restart is often insufficient; ensure the hardware fully cycles off.
  4. 2 min

    Check companion app permissions

Open your phone settings and locate the specific companion app for your wearable. Ensure that 'Bluetooth' or 'Nearby Devices' permission is explicitly toggled to Always or While Using. If these permissions are revoked, the app cannot finalize the handshake protocol required for pairing.

Note: Check for app updates in the App Store or Google Play Store, as an outdated app version may lack compatibility with newer OS security protocols.
  5. 4 min

    Initiate factory reset on wearable

If pairing still fails, reset the wearable to its factory settings. Access the system settings menu directly on the watch interface and select Reset or Erase All Data. Once the device displays its initial welcome screen, re-open the companion app on your phone and start the pairing sequence from scratch.

Note: This will erase all local activity data on the wearable; sync with the cloud before proceeding if possible.
