Step by step
Verify User Account and File Permissions
Open System Settings and select Users & Groups to confirm your account exists with the correct administrative privileges. Navigate to your Home folder in Finder to ensure your primary subdirectories like Desktop, Documents, and Pictures contain your expected data.
Note: If folders appear empty, allow Spotlight a few minutes to index the drive.Validate Critical Application Functionality
Launch your core productivity and creative applications one by one to ensure they initialize without error. If an application fails to launch or requests a serial key, verify its compatibility with your current macOS version and re-authenticate your login credentials.
Note: Some legacy apps may require a Rosetta installation prompt upon first launch.Confirm iCloud and Sync Services
Go to System Settings and select your Apple ID to verify that iCloud services like iCloud Drive, Photos, and Keychain are active. Check the status of third-party cloud storage clients, such as Dropbox or OneDrive, to ensure they have resumed syncing files from the server.
Note: Syncing large cloud libraries can take significant time; monitor the process via the menu bar icons.Test Hardware Peripherals and Drivers
Connect your external displays, audio interfaces, and printers to ensure macOS recognizes the hardware correctly. If a device fails to respond, open System Settings, navigate to Printers & Scanners or Sound, and remove and re-add the device to refresh the driver handshake.
Note: Always connect peripherals directly to the Mac ports during verification to rule out hub issues.Run Disk Utility to Verify Disk Health
Open Disk Utility from the Applications > Utilities folder. Select your internal disk (Macintosh HD) in the sidebar and click First Aid to perform a scan for any file system errors introduced during the migration process.
Note: If errors are reported, run First Aid while booted into macOS Recovery.
