Current iPhone, Stable Wi-Fi network, Bluetooth enabled, Power source

Step by step

  1. 2 min

Update to the latest iOS version

Navigate to Settings, tap General, and select Software Update. If an update is available, download and install it to ensure full compatibility with the target device.

Note: Quick Start works best when both devices run the same major version of iOS.
  2. 30 sec

    Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

Quick Start requires both radios to be active for peer-to-peer discovery. Open Control Center and verify that the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi icons are highlighted in blue.

Note: Ensure your iPhone is not in Airplane Mode.
  3. 1 min

    Confirm Apple ID sign-in

Go to Settings and verify your Apple ID banner is present at the top. Ensure you are signed in, as this account will be used to automatically set up your new device.

Note: You will need your Apple ID password during the transfer process.
  4. 2 min

    Perform a manual iCloud backup

Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup. Tap Back Up Now to ensure your most recent health data, keychain, and settings are captured before the migration.

Note: Do not skip this step, as it serves as a fail-safe if the direct transfer encounters an issue.
  5. 1 min

    Disable paired accessories

If you use an Apple Watch, it is recommended to unpair it from your old phone first if you intend to move it to the new device. Go to the Watch app, select All Watches, tap the 'i' icon, and select Unpair Apple Watch.

Note: Unpairing automatically creates a backup of the Watch data.
