How to Transfer Signal Messages to a New iPhone

Step by step

   Enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

   Ensure both iPhones are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on both devices via Settings > Bluetooth.

   Note: Keep both devices physically close throughout the process.

   Install Signal on the new iPhone

   Download Signal from the App Store on your new device. Do not open the application or register your phone number yet.

   Note: Ensure you are using the same Apple ID on both devices if possible.

   Start the migration process

   Open Signal on the new iPhone. Select Transfer from iOS Device when prompted during the initial setup sequence.

   Authorize the transfer

   On your old iPhone, a prompt will appear asking to confirm the transfer. Tap Transfer to begin the pairing process between the two devices.

   Note: A QR code will appear on the new device.
5. 30 sec

   Scan the QR code

   Use the camera on your old iPhone to scan the QR code displayed on the new iPhone's screen. The devices will establish a secure connection for data transfer.

6. 2 min

   Complete account registration

   Follow the on-screen prompts on the new iPhone to verify your phone number. Once verified, the migration of your message history will proceed automatically.

   Note: Do not navigate away from the Signal app until the transfer bar reaches 100%.
