Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Access Location Services Settings

Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Navigate to Privacy & Security, then tap Location Services at the top of the menu.

  2. 1 min

    Modify Individual App Permissions

Scroll down to view your installed applications. Tap an app to view its current access level and select Never to completely disable location tracking for that specific application.

Note: Select While Using the App to restrict tracking exclusively to when the application is active.
  3. 30 sec

    Disable Precise Location

Within an app's specific permission menu, locate the Precise Location toggle. Switch this to off if the app only requires your approximate general area to function.

  4. 1 min

    Review System Services

Return to the main Location Services screen and scroll to the bottom. Tap System Services to manage background Apple processes that use your location data.

  5. 30 sec

    Restrict Background System Tracking

Toggle off switches for non-essential features such as Compass Calibration, Motion Calibration, or Location-Based Alerts. This reduces background activity and narrows your data footprint.

Note: Toggle Status Bar Icon to On if you want to be alerted whenever a system service uses your location.
