Step by step
Power off both devices
Turn off your current iPhone and your new iPhone completely. On models with Face ID, press and hold the side button and one volume button until the power off slider appears, then drag it.
Note: Always power off hardware before handling internal components to prevent electrical shorts.Remove the SIM tray
Locate the SIM tray on the side of your old iPhone. Insert a SIM eject tool or a small paperclip into the pinhole next to the tray and press firmly until the tray pops out.
Extract the SIM card
Pull the tray straight out of the device. Remove the physical SIM card carefully by lifting it from the tray, ensuring you do not touch the gold contact points.
Note: Hold the SIM card by the edges to prevent skin oils from interfering with connectivity.Insert SIM into the new iPhone
Open the SIM tray on your new iPhone using the eject tool. Place your SIM card into the tray, ensuring the notched corner aligns with the tray's shape.
Note: If the SIM does not sit flat, do not force the tray into the device.Seal the SIM tray
Slide the tray back into the new iPhone until it sits flush with the side of the casing. Press firmly until you feel a secure click.
Activate cellular service
Power on the new iPhone. Wait for the device to detect the network; the carrier name should appear in the status bar within one minute of booting.
Note: If no signal appears, toggle Airplane Mode on and off via the Control Center.
