Step by step

  1. 45 sec

    Check Existing Apple Devices

If you own other Apple devices signed into iCloud, locate your Apple ID there. Navigate to Settings on an iPhone or iPad. Tap your name at the top to view your Apple ID email address. On a Mac, open System Settings and click your name to find the Apple ID.

Note: This is the primary and easiest method if you have other active Apple devices.
  2. 1 min

    Review Past Purchases and Communications

Search your email for communications from Apple. Look for receipts from the App Store, iTunes Store, or Apple Books. The sender address or the account listed on the receipt will likely contain your Apple ID. Check older emails for account-related notifications.

Note: This method requires searching through your personal email inbox.
  3. 1 min 30 sec

Use Apple's 'Look Up Your Apple ID' Tool

Open a web browser and go to iforgot.apple.com. Click 'Forgot Apple ID?' to begin the lookup process. You will be prompted to enter your first name, last name, and the email address you believe is associated with your Apple ID. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: This tool requires knowing at least one email address that might be linked to your account.
  4. 30 sec

    Enter Account Recovery Information

Apple's lookup tool will send an email to the provided address with instructions. You may need to verify your identity using a trusted phone number or security questions. Once verified, your Apple ID will be displayed or can be reset.

Note: Ensure you have access to the email address you use for account recovery.
  5. 15 sec

Record Your Apple ID and Password

Once located, write down your Apple ID and its associated password in a secure location. This information is critical for completing the setup of your new iPhone and accessing services like iCloud, App Store, and Apple Music.

Note: Do not store your password in an easily accessible digital format. Consider a password manager.
