Step by step
Toggle Network Settings
Open Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner. Tap the Airplane Mode icon to enable it, wait 10 seconds, and tap it again to disable it. This forces the iPhone to re-establish a fresh handshake with your Wi-Fi or cellular network.
Note: Avoid using a cellular connection for major iOS updates; switch to a stable 5GHz Wi-Fi network.Disable VPN and Security Profiles
Navigate to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. If a VPN profile is active, tap it and toggle the status to Not Connected. If you have custom security or beta profiles installed, remove them, as they often block Apple's update servers.
Note: Restart your iPhone after removing profiles to clear lingering network configurations.Clear Corrupted Update Files
Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Locate the iOS update file in the list of applications. Tap the update and select Delete Update to remove any partially downloaded, corrupted installation data.
Note: If no update file appears, your device has not yet attempted a partial download.Reset Network Settings
Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone. Tap Reset, then select Reset Network Settings. Your device will reboot, clearing all saved Wi-Fi passwords and custom APN configurations.
Note: Have your Wi-Fi passwords ready, as this erases all saved network credentials.Perform a Force Restart
Press and quickly release the Volume Up button, press and quickly release the Volume Down button, and then press and hold the Side button. Continue holding until the Apple logo appears on the display. This flushes the temporary cache that may be stalling the update process.
Note: Do not release the side button when the power-off slider appears; wait for the screen to go black.
