USB-C to Lightning or USB-C to USB-C cable, Vehicle owner manual

Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Verify Siri and CarPlay restrictions

Open Settings and navigate to Screen Time. Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions, select Allowed Apps, and ensure CarPlay is toggled on. Additionally, ensure Siri is enabled in Settings > Siri & Search, as CarPlay requires Siri functionality to operate.

Note: CarPlay will not initialize if Siri is disabled in system settings.
  2. 1 min

Confirm CarPlay is not restricted while locked

Navigate to Settings > General > CarPlay. Select your vehicle from the list and ensure the option CarPlay While Locked is toggled on. If this is disabled, the system will not establish a connection until the device is manually unlocked.

  3. 2 min

    Remove and re-pair the device

Go to Settings > General > CarPlay and select your vehicle. Tap Forget This Car. On your vehicle's infotainment display, navigate to the device management menu and remove your iPhone from the list of known devices.

Note: Performing a hard reset of the vehicle's infotainment system may also be required.
  4. 1 min

    Test the physical connection

If using a wired connection, inspect the cable and port for debris or damage. Always use an Apple-certified MFi cable, as third-party cables often lack the necessary data transfer bandwidth required for CarPlay. Try an alternative high-quality data cable to rule out hardware failure.

Note: Charging-only cables will not support CarPlay data protocols.
  5. 1 min

    Reset network settings

If wireless CarPlay fails, reset your network settings to clear corrupt configuration data. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note that this action will erase all saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth pairings.

Note: Only perform this step if wireless connection issues persist.
