Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Increase the system font size

Open the Settings app and navigate to Display & Brightness. Tap Text Size and drag the slider to the right to increase the font scale across supported applications.

Note: Enable Larger Accessibility Sizes within the same menu to reveal additional slider positions for extreme magnification.
  2. 30 sec

    Apply bold text weight

Navigate to Settings > Display & Brightness. Toggle the Bold Text switch to the on position. The iPad will restart the springboard to apply the thicker font weight system-wide.

  3. 1 min

    Increase contrast and reduce transparency

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size. Toggle on Increase Contrast to sharpen the distinction between text and background colors. Toggle on Reduce Transparency to replace blurred backgrounds with solid, high-contrast surfaces.

Note: Reducing transparency significantly improves legibility on complex backgrounds.
  4. 30 sec

    Enable color filters

In Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size, tap Color Filters. Switch the toggle on and select Grayscale or a specific color tint to reduce eye strain caused by vibrant colors.

Note: Grayscale mode is highly effective for reducing distraction and eye fatigue during long reading sessions.
  5. 1 min

    Configure Night Shift

Navigate to Settings > Display & Brightness > Night Shift. Set a schedule or toggle 'Manually Enable Until Tomorrow' to shift the display colors to the warmer end of the spectrum. Use the color temperature slider to find the most comfortable balance for your eyes.

Note: Night Shift reduces blue light exposure, which can improve comfort in low-light environments.
