Step by step

  1. 30 sec

    Access Quick Settings

Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to fully expand the Quick Settings panel. If you only see a partial panel after the first swipe, swipe down again to reveal all available toggles.

Note: On some devices, you can swipe down with two fingers to immediately access the full Quick Settings panel.
  2. 30 sec

    Find the Screen Recorder toggle

Look for the Screen Record tile in your Quick Settings. If you don't see it immediately, swipe left or tap the pencil icon to edit your Quick Settings layout and add Screen Record from the available tiles.

Note: The Screen Record icon typically looks like a phone with a circle or recording symbol inside.
  3. 30 sec

    Configure recording settings

Tap the Screen Record toggle. A dialog will appear with audio options. Choose Record audio to capture device sounds and microphone input, or select No audio for a silent recording. Some devices offer separate toggles for device audio and microphone audio.

Note: Recording with device audio captures app sounds and notifications, while microphone audio records your voice commentary.
  4. 30 sec

    Start the recording

Tap Start in the dialog box. Android will begin a 3-second countdown before recording starts. You'll see a red recording indicator in your status bar and a floating bubble on your screen during recording.

Note: The floating bubble lets you pause, resume, or stop recording without accessing the notification panel.

    Record your screen activity

Navigate through your device and perform the actions you want to capture. The screen recorder captures everything visible on your display, including app interactions, gestures, and screen transitions.

Note: Avoid displaying sensitive information like passwords or personal data during recording, as everything on screen will be captured.
  6. 30 sec

    Stop the recording

Tap the red recording indicator in your status bar or the floating stop button. Alternatively, pull down your notification panel and tap Stop on the screen recording notification.

Note: Screen recordings automatically stop if you receive a phone call or if your device's storage becomes full.
  7. 30 sec

    Access your recording

Your screen recording saves automatically to your device's Gallery or Photos app. You'll receive a notification when the recording is complete with options to share, delete, or edit the video file.

Note: Screen recordings are typically saved in MP4 format in a dedicated Screenshots or Screen Recordings folder within your gallery.
