You will need
Compatible USB-C to USB-C cable, Fully charged source and target devices

Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Update the operating system

Open the Settings app and navigate to System > Software update. Ensure both the source and target devices are running the latest version of Android to prevent compatibility conflicts during the transfer process.

Note: A restart is required if an update is installed.
  2. 30 sec

    Verify battery levels

Confirm both devices have at least 50% battery life. Wired transfers consume significant power and a device shutdown mid-process can result in data corruption.

  3. 30 sec

    Remove screen locks

Navigate to Security & privacy > Device unlock > Screen lock. Temporarily disable your PIN, pattern, or biometric security to prevent the transfer from hanging due to authentication prompts.

Note: Re-enable security settings immediately after the transfer is complete.
  4. 1 min

    Enable developer options

Go to About phone and tap Build number seven times until you see the confirmation that you are a developer. This ensures system permissions are prioritized during the data handoff.

  5. 30 sec

    Configure USB preferences

Open Settings > System > Developer options and locate Default USB configuration. Select File Transfer to ensure the hardware is ready to mount as a data source upon cable connection.

  6. 30 sec

    Establish the physical connection

Connect the USB-C cable to both devices. Observe the target phone for the system prompt to initiate data migration, then follow the on-screen prompts to begin the synchronization.

Note: Ensure the cable is inserted firmly into both USB-C ports.
