Step by step

  1. 30 sec

    Open system navigation settings

Open the Settings app on your device. Navigate to System and select Gestures to view your current navigation configuration.

  2. 30 sec

    Enable gesture navigation

Select System navigation from the menu. Choose Gesture navigation to replace the three-button layout with a single indicator bar at the bottom of the display.

Note: Selecting this option instantly hides the Back, Home, and Recents buttons.
  3. 1 min

    Adjust gesture sensitivity

Tap the gear icon next to Gesture navigation. Slide the Back sensitivity bars to calibrate how far from the edge you must swipe to trigger a back action.

Note: Higher sensitivity is recommended if you use a protective case with raised edges.
  4. 1 min

    Master primary gesture inputs

Swipe upward from the bottom edge to go Home, or swipe and hold to view Recent apps. Swipe inward from either the left or right side of the screen to perform the Back command.

  5. 30 sec

    Test navigation functionality

Return to your home screen and cycle through three different applications. Ensure the Back gesture functions consistently without interfering with app-specific drawer menus.

Note: If an app has a side-swipe menu, swipe diagonally or touch the menu handle to trigger it.
