  1. 1 min

    Back up your data

Open Settings, tap Google, then select Backup. Tap Back up now to sync your contacts, photos, and system settings to your Google Drive account.

Note: Verify the backup status in Google Drive to ensure all files are current.
  2. 1 min

    Remove active accounts

Navigate to Settings, then Passwords & accounts. Select your Google account and tap Remove account to prevent Factory Reset Protection (FRP) from locking the device for the next user.

Note: Repeat this for all email or third-party service accounts logged into the device.
  3. 1 min

    Locate the reset menu

Open Settings and navigate to System. Tap Reset options, then select Erase all data (factory reset).

Note: If you cannot find this path, type 'Reset' into the search bar at the top of the Settings menu.
  4. 30 sec

    Initiate the wipe

Tap Erase all data at the bottom of the screen. Enter your device PIN, pattern, or password when prompted to authorize the action.

Note: Ensure your phone is plugged into a power source before starting this process.
  5. 10 min

    Complete the process

Wait for the device to restart and display the Welcome screen. Power off the device immediately upon reaching the setup assistant to leave it in a clean state for the next user.

Note: The phone will stay on the logo screen for several minutes while files are deleted.
