- Old device, New Samsung Galaxy device, USB-C cable or stable Wi-Fi connection
Step by step
Install Smart Switch on both devices
Download and install the Samsung Smart Switch app from the Google Play Store on both your source and target devices. If you are migrating from an iOS device, ensure the app is installed on the Galaxy device and that you have your iCloud credentials ready.
Note: Ensure both devices are charged to at least 50% capacity before starting the transfer.Launch the application
Open the Smart Switch app on both phones. On the new Galaxy device, select Receive Data, then choose the appropriate source platform: Galaxy/Android, iPhone/iPad, or PC.
Establish the device connection
Select Cable if you are using a physical USB-C to USB-C or Lightning to USB-C cable for the fastest transfer speeds. Alternatively, select Wireless to connect the devices via a direct peer-to-peer Wi-Fi signal.
Note: A wired connection is highly recommended for large data transfers over 20GB.Choose data for migration
On the new device, review the list of available categories such as Contacts, Messages, Images, and Apps. Toggle the switches to include or exclude specific data types, or select Everything for a complete mirror of your previous device.
Execute the transfer process
Tap Transfer to begin moving files to the new device. Do not close the app or disconnect the devices while the progress bar is active, as this may result in data corruption.
Note: The time remaining is an estimate; actual speed depends on file types and connection stability.Organize transferred content
Once the transfer reaches 100%, tap Done on the new device. The phone will perform a final organization scan, after which your data will be accessible in your Gallery, Messages, and Contacts apps.
Note: Some apps may require you to log in again for security purposes.
