- You will need
- iPhone with iMessage disabled, Android device, stable Wi-Fi, USB-C to Lightning cable
Step by step
Disable iMessage and FaceTime
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and toggle off iMessage. Navigate to Settings > FaceTime and toggle off FaceTime to ensure incoming texts arrive on your new device.
Note: Failing to do this will cause your incoming SMS messages to be lost in the Apple ecosystem.Initialize the Android migration tool
Power on your new Android device and begin the setup process. When prompted to copy apps and data, select Next and choose the option to transfer from an iPhone.
Note: Ensure both devices have at least 50% battery before starting.Establish a secure connection
Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the devices using a USB-C to Lightning cable. If you lack a cable, choose the wireless option to sync via a temporary local Wi-Fi network created by the Android device.
Note: A wired connection is significantly faster for transferring large media libraries.Choose data categories for transfer
Review the checklist on your Android screen. Select the specific data types you wish to migrate, including contacts, calendar events, photos, videos, and call logs.
Note: Application data for third-party apps will not transfer; you must redownload these from the Google Play Store.Execute the data migration
Tap Copy to begin the transfer. Keep both devices unlocked and connected until the progress bar reaches completion, as interrupting the process may corrupt transferred files.
Note: Do not use the devices for other tasks while the migration is in progress.Sign in and finalize setup
Complete the Android setup wizard by signing in with your Google account. Once at the home screen, open the Google Photos and Contacts apps to verify that your data has successfully populated.
Note: It may take several minutes for cloud-synced items to fully appear.
