Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Clean the camera lens module

Smudges and oils from fingers are the primary cause of hazy photos. Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe the glass covering your rear camera lenses. Avoid using abrasive paper towels or clothing, which can create micro-scratches on the lens coating.

Note: If using a case, ensure the cutout is free of dust and lint buildup.
  2. 1 min

    Enable manual focus locking

Autofocus can hunt for the wrong subject in low-light conditions. Open the Camera app, point your camera at the subject, and tap and hold on the screen exactly where the focus should be. Look for the AE/AF Lock indicator to appear, signaling that the focus distance is now locked.

Note: Dragging the sun icon up or down after locking allows you to adjust exposure without losing the focus point.
  3. 1 min

    Adjust camera stabilization settings

Navigate to Camera settings by tapping the gear icon in the app. Ensure that Video Stabilization and High-Efficiency Image formats are toggled to the optimal settings for your lighting. If shooting in low light, disable high-speed burst modes, as they prioritize shutter speed over image quality.

Note: Some devices label this as Image Stabilization or OIS in the advanced settings menu.
  4. 1 min

    Clear the Camera app cache

Corrupt temporary files can cause the camera's processing engine to glitch. Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Camera > Storage & cache. Tap Clear Cache to reset the temporary data without deleting your saved photos.

Note: Do not select Clear Storage unless you have verified your photos are backed up to the cloud.
  5. 1 min

    Verify software and hardware integrity

Test the hardware by opening the camera in Safe Mode to rule out third-party app interference. If photos remain blurry in Safe Mode, the issue is likely hardware-related. Check for physical damage on the lens glass that may require professional repair.

Note: Restarting your device into Safe Mode is usually achieved by holding the power button and long-pressing the Power Off prompt.
