Step by step

  1. 2 min

    Perform a comprehensive data backup

Before erasing any data, ensure all critical files, photos, and documents are synced to a cloud service or external drive. On iPads, navigate to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now. On Android, go to Settings > System > Backup and verify all toggles are set to On.

Note: Verify the sync status before proceeding to avoid permanent data loss.
  2. 1 min

Sign out of all cloud accounts

Manually sign out of Apple ID or Google accounts to disable activation locks. On iPad, go to Settings > [Your Name] > Sign Out. On Android, navigate to Settings > Passwords & accounts, select the account, and tap Remove account.

Note: Failing to remove accounts will trigger a lock screen that prevents the new user from activating the device.
  3. 5 min

    Execute a factory data reset

Wipe all partitions to clear user data and system cache. For iPad, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Erase All Content and Settings. For Android, select Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset).

Note: Keep the device plugged into a power source during this process to prevent a soft-brick.
  4. 3 min

    Sanitize the physical hardware

Use a lint-free microfiber cloth slightly dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol or specialized electronics cleaning solution. Gently wipe the display, chassis, and charging port. Do not spray liquid directly onto the screen.

Note: Avoid using household cleaners containing bleach or ammonia as they strip the oleophobic coating.
  5. 2 min

    Validate the clean state

Power on the tablet to ensure it boots to the 'Hello' or 'Welcome' setup screen. If the device prompts for a previous user's login credentials, the reset was incomplete. Power off the device and keep it in its original packaging if available.

Note: Do not proceed through the setup wizard; leave it on the welcome screen for the new user.
