Step by step

  1. 1 min

    Open the guest access settings

Launch your smart lock manufacturer's app. Navigate to the Settings icon and select 'Guest Access' or 'Manage Users'. This menu acts as the central hub for all entry permissions.

Note: Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled to finalize the sync with the lock hardware.
  2. 1 min

    Invite a new user

Select 'Invite' or 'Add Guest'. Enter the recipient’s name and their mobile phone number or email address. The system will send a digital invitation directly to their device.

  3. 1 min

    Set access level permissions

Choose between 'Permanent Access' for residents or 'Temporary Access' for visitors. If selecting temporary access, define the specific start and end dates or recurring weekly hours allowed for entry.

Note: Always choose 'Temporary' for service providers or short-term guests to mitigate unauthorized entry risks.
  4. 30 sec

    Enable activity notifications

Toggle the 'Notify me' switch for the specific user you just added. This ensures you receive a push notification whenever that specific user locks or unlocks the door.

Note: Use this to maintain an audit trail for all entry and exit events.
  5. 1 min

    Create a unique entry PIN

If your lock utilizes a physical keypad, generate a unique numeric code for the guest. Assign this code within the 'Keypad Settings' tab to avoid sharing a master PIN.

Note: Rotate your master PIN every six months to maintain system security.
  6. 30 sec

    Delete expired permissions

Regularly audit the Guest Access list. Tap the user’s name and select 'Remove' or 'Deactivate' once their visit concludes. Deletion takes effect immediately across the lock's local memory.

Note: Remove inactive users to reduce the potential attack surface of your smart home.
